Festival Day 8
We got another early start today to see Asako I & II. It's a Japanese drama about a girl who falls in love with a man, but he disappears for two years. During those years she falls in love with another man, but then her first love comes back for her. It was emotional and we all really liked it!
After that film we went on a walk to explore Cannes. We walked through different alleys and took lots of pictures of the beautiful architecture! We also walked up a bunch of stairs to get to the Cannes sign and the view was breathtaking. It's definitely one of my favorite things I've done so far!
We returned to the festival to listen to Rima Das, an Indian filmmaker whose film (Village Rockstars) we watched before we went to the festival. It was so cool to hear about her experiences becoming a filmmaker in India, and I also really enjoyed hearing about her process of making Village Rockstars.
Dinner was the next priority, so we walked to La Pizza where I got some really good pasta! We talked about our plan for the rest of the night and decided to celebrity watch then get in line to see BlacKkKlansman.
We got to see lots of celebrities walk the red carpet! We saw John Travolta, Emelia Clarke, and Donald Glover to name a few, and we got Woody Harrelson to wave at us! (I also saw my love Adam Driver earlier in the day; it was a very successful day.)
Later we got in line to see Spike Lee's new film BlacKkKlansman. It was one of the films I was most excited to see, and I absolutely loved it. It got a 10 minute standing ovation when it premiered the night before, and it was much deserved. Overall it was one of the best days I've had so far!
